Interior Painting Questions

Most rooms take 1–2 days, while full-home projects vary based on size and scope. We provide clear timelines before starting.

We ask that you move items that are small, fragile, sentimental and/or irreplaceable. We handle the heavy lifting and move large furniture for you ensuring we protect your items and protect your floors.

We normally suggest flat for ceilings, matte for walls and semigloss for trim and doors. Our recommendation may vary depending on the era of your home to try and maintain the integrity and historical correctness of your home.

On average 8-10 years; Assuming quality paint like Regal Select from Benjamin Moore or equivalent is used. Rooms with higher traffic may require painting more often.

Our finish coatings are Zero VOC. In the scenario where the project requires products to complete the job that are not Zero VOC, we will proactively discuss your options during the estimate process.

Exterior Painting Questions

Most homes in Philadelphia need exterior repainting every 7–10 years, depending on weather exposure and surface conditions.

Spring and fall are the most ideal times of the year due to stable temperature and humidity levels. We avoid painting outside during the dog days of summer. When the temperature reaches above 90 degrees, the quality of the work begins to get compromised.

We always start by power washing substrates with a soap solution to remove mildew, algae, dust, dirt and pollen. We proceed with scraping, sanding, priming and caulking. When needed, we use a two-part marine epoxy to fill any large defects in the wood. Rotted wood will need to be replaced with a quality species, like Spanish cedar, and coated with an oil primer before painting.

We prefer to use Sherwin Williams Emerald for wood substrates, Sherwin Williams Loxon XP on stucco and masonry substrates, and Oil enamel on metal.

During the estimate we assess the condition of your siding and trim and discuss your options. As a reminder, we won’t have a complete grasp on the extent of carpentry repairs until demolition is finalized. Therefore, all carpentry repairs and pricing are subject to final inspection during demolition.
